Cowboy Baseball Opens Fall Practice
September 16, 2015 | Cowboy Baseball
STILLWATER, Okla. — Oklahoma State baseball began preparations for the 2016 season Tuesday with the opening of fall practices at Allie P. Reynolds Stadium.
Â
Head coach Josh Holliday's Cowboys will continue practice into October, concluding the fall with an intrasquad world series. OSU will hold regular intrasquad scrimmages throughout the week, with fans welcome to attend those events at Reynolds Stadium. The Pokes are scheduled to scrimmage Tuesdays at 8 p.m., Fridays at 3:30 p.m. and Sundays at 2 p.m. (days and times are subject to change).
Â
The Cowboys return 20 letterwinners from last season's 38-20 ballclub, including All-Big 12 Conference performers Donnie Walton, Corey Hassel and Ryan Sluder, as well as 12 newcomers — eight from the high school ranks and four via junior college.
Â
OSU will look to build on its success under Holliday in 2016, which will mark Holliday's fourth season as head coach at his alma mater. The Cowboys have made NCAA Tournament appearances in each of their first three seasons under Holliday and have made strong runs at Big 12 titles the last two years — winning one in 2014 and finishing as runner-up last season — as well as hosting NCAA Regionals in 2014 and 2015.
