Lauren Colwell
Cowgirl Soccer Top 20 Moments, 1996-2014
August 06, 2015 | Cowgirl Soccer
The Oklahoma State Cowgirl soccer program will mark its 20th season in 2015. As we celebrate two decades of milestones, OSU head coach Colin Carmichael and assistant coach Karen Hancock, who each have been with the program since its inception and served stints as head coaches to help build the program into a national power, collaborated on a list of the top 20 moments in Cowgirl soccer history. Over the next month, we'll reveal their list (which is in no particular order) on www.okstate.com.

Lauren Colwell named OSU's first-ever All-Big 12 First Team performer in 2003
Â
Oklahoma State has had 20 players named to the All-Big 12 Conference First Team in its history.
Â
Only one of those — Lauren Colwell — can boast of being the first in program history to claim that honor.
Â
Colwell was named to the All-Big 12 First Team as a Cowgirl sophomore in 2003. The Jenks, Okla. native started all 23 games at defender that season and anchored a defense that allowed just 17 goals in 23 games and recorded a 0.71 goals against average.
Â
Colwell's play helped OSU claim its first-ever Big 12 championship and NCAA Tournament berth in 2003.
Â
During her four-year career, Colwell played in 81 games and was a two-time all-conference selection.
Â
Colin Carmichael: "Lauren came in as a wide back who was very fast, and other than that we weren't really sure how she'd develop. She clearly developed into a great player. She ended up playing center back for us at 5-foot-3 and because of her aggression and speed, she got away with it and did really well. To get recognized in what was a very good Big 12 Conference back then — you had Texas A&M and Nebraska in the top 10, Texas was awesome — was a very big deal for Lauren and the program."
