Niebrugge Advances At Western Am

SUGAR GROVE, Ill. — Oklahoma State rising senior Jordan Niebrugge tied for third place during the stroke play portion of the 113th Western Amateur on Thursday to advance to the match play bracket at Rich Harvest Farms.
Niebrugge followed rounds of 71 and 66 with scores of 73 and 71, giving him a 7-under total of 281 to finish in a four-way tie for third at the par-72, 7,203-yard layout. Robby Shelton finished at 11-under 277 to claim medalist honors.
For match play, Niebrugge will serve as the No. 4 seed and will square off with 13th-seeded Adam Wood at 8:30 a.m.
The event's champion in 2013, Niebrugge was one of four OSU representatives in action on Thursday. Incoming freshman Zachary Bauchou finished at 287 and tied for 19th place, while sophomore-to-be Kristoffer Ventura posted a 295 score to hold sole possession of 36th place.
Rising junior Zachary Olsen finished at 296 and tied for 37th place.
