OSU Cross Country Kicks off Season at Home
August 31, 2015 | Cowboy Cross Country & Track, Cowgirl Cross Country & Track
Meet will feature Tulsa, OU and Arkansas
STILLWATER – Oklahoma State's 2015 cross country season kicks off at home Tuesday with the Cowboy Preview at the OSU Cross Country Course.
The four-team event features the Cowboys and Cowgirls as well as runners from Arkansas, Oklahoma and Tulsa.
"It's really just a chance for all three teams plus ourselves to get a look at where we are and compete against someone other than ourselves" coach Dave Smith said. "I don't think anyone is going to come in loaded and ready to run their best race of the season because it's kind of just a rust-buster."
OSU will likely send out seven veterans Tuesday morning, including indoor All-American Matthew Fayers, Junior Team USA member Cerake Geberkidane and NCAA outdoor champion Chad Noelle.
Natalie Baker will lead the Cowgirls into the meet as the junior is the Cowgirls' highest returning finisher at the Conference Championships from a season ago. She will be joined by freshman Katie Spencer, two-time All-American Savannah Camacho and OSU record-holder Ingeborg Loevnes, among others.
The races are scheduled to start at 8 a.m. on Tuesday, with the men running a 5,000-meter course and the women running a 3,000-meter route.
