Inside the Helmet: Ben Grogan
August 31, 2015 | Cowboy Football
STILLWATER – Inside the Helmet is a Q&A series that gets to know Cowboy football players away from the field. This edition features junior kicker Ben Grogan.
One word to describe you?
"I think my best feature would be my work ethic."
If you could trade places with anyone for a day, who would you be and why?
"I'd probably switch places with Bill Gates to feel what it's like to have that much money."
If you won the lottery, what would be the first thing you'd buy?
"I'd probably buy a new car."
If you could play with any football player, who would it be?
"I'd have to go with my boy, Dan Bailey. He's still my role model and he's not too far ahead of me either."
What's a TV show that you watch, but are embarrassed to admit?
"I'm not sure if I'm embarrassed about any of the shows that I watch. I don't watch a lot of TV, but I still enjoy cartoons like SpongeBob and stuff, but I think most people would agree with that."
If you could have dinner with any three people, who would they be?
"It would be pretty cool to have dinner with George Washington or a founding father. Maybe The Rock would be a cool guy to hang out with, so we'll throw him in there, and we'll throw Jennifer Aniston in there, too."
What's the most surprising thing about you?
"I play the drums for a hobby. I've been doing that longer than I've played sports."
What are three things on your bucket list?
"I want to make it to Hawaii. I probably want to skydive at least once, but the third one is a hard choice. If I could, I'd like to buy an expensive sports car, but I don't think that's going to happen."
Why did you decide to come to OSU?
"I really liked the environment when I first got here. I liked coach Gundy because he made me feel at home, and obviously the facilities were really nice. We've had a lot of great kickers here before, so I knew that coming here would set me up nicely for being successful."
