Niebrugge Named National Amateur of the Month

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. — Oklahoma State's Jordan Niebrugge has been named the Southern Golf Association's National Amateur of the Month for July after his performance at The Open Championship.
The rising senior finished sixth at St. Andrews, posting a 277 total. His 11-under score is the lowest ever recorded by an amateur at the event and his opening 67 is the lowest first-round score ever recorded by an amateur at St. Andrews.
Niebrugge's distinction marks the 12th time a Cowboy has claimed the honor. The 13-year-old award, which is open to males and females in all age groups, is voted on by a national panel of golf coaches, officials and media.
