Bedlam Soccer: Stephenson Shines

Oklahoma State is 20-4-3 all time against rival Oklahoma on the soccer pitch, and that success has produced numerous Bedlam Series heroes for the Cowgirls over the last two decades.

One of those is a member of the current roster — Allie Stephenson.

Stephenson is part of an OSU senior class that is 3-2-1 against the Sooners, and of the players on the 2015 roster, Stephenson leads the Cowgirls with three career goals against OU.

And while scoring in Bedlam is always memorable, Stephenson has shown a flair for the dramatic as two of her three scores have been golden goals. In 2013, she scored with 46 seconds left in the second overtime to give the Cowgirls a 2-1 victory in Norman, and a year ago, she netted a goal in the 97th minute to lift OSU to a 2-1 triumph in Stillwater.

Last year's heroics lifted OSU into first place in the Big 12 Conference standings and came on the Cowgirls' 10th corner kick of the game when Kelsey Bass delivered a ball that hit the back of an OU defender and rolled to Stephenson, who drilled a 16-yard shot top shelf to the near post.

Another interesting note — all three of Stephenson's goals against OU have come off corner kicks taken by Bass.

Other current Cowgirls who are goal scorers against OU include Delaney Kiely, who has recorded two of her three career goals against the Sooners; Courtney Dike, who scored twice in a 4-1 win in 2013; Natalie Calhoun, whose only career goal came in Norman in 2013; and Madison Mercado, who converted a penalty kick in 2013.
