Cowgirl Soccer Preseason: Team Retreat and Prep For SMU

STILLWATER, Okla. — Oklahoma State has been busy with preseason preparations for the 2015 season, and this week has been a busy one as the Cowgirls eye Friday's exhibition match against SMU.

The week began with a trip to Sky Ranch Cave Springs camp in northeast Oklahoma, where the players and staff experienced a number of team bonding activities that included swimming, playing human foosball and board games and a campfire — and no cellphones!

Now back in Stillwater, the Cowgirls have returned to their usual two-a-day practice regimen, training on the field in the mornings and evenings with conditioning, weight training and yoga also on the itinerary.

Friday's exhibition match is up next as the Cowgirls will battle SMU Friday at 7 p.m. at the Cowgirl Soccer Complex. Admission to the match is free.

"The team is really buying into the team concept right now, and it's been so far so good," Carmichael said. "Everybody is working hard and at this point, you're just looking to play somebody else to get a gauge of where we are."

OSU opens the regular season Aug. 23 when it hosts Mercer.
