Jolene Schweitzer
Cowgirl Soccer All-Time Team: Forward
July 08, 2015 | Cowgirl Soccer
The Oklahoma State Cowgirl soccer program will mark its 20th season in 2015. As we celebrate two decades of milestones, OSU head coach Colin Carmichael and assistant coach Karen Hancock, both of whom have been with the program since its inception and built it into a national power, collaborated on a list of the top players in Cowgirl soccer history. We've revealed the top 11 daily on www.okstate.com over the past two weeks, and today we conclude the team with our final forward. (NOTE: Carmichael and Hancock also chose a "Next 11," which is listed below).
Â
Jolene Schweitzer – Lethbridge, Alberta, Canada (2001-04)
Schweitzer's 35 career goals are tied for the most in OSU history, and she ranks second all time with 84 points. During her four seasons in a Cowgirl uniform, the Canadian import played in 79 games and also tallied 14 assists.
Â
An All-Big 12 performer in 2004, Schweitzer led OSU in goals scored in three of her four seasons in Stillwater. She recorded eight career multi-goal games, including notching a hat-trick against Texas in 2003 in which she scored all of the Cowgirls' goals in a 3-1 victory that gave the program its first-ever win over the Longhorns.
Â
Schweitzer helped lead OSU to its first Big 12 championship and NCAA Tournament appearance as a junior in 2003.
Â
Colin Carmichael on Jolene Schweitzer: "Jolene was a tough forward, the kind of forward that you wouldn't want to mark. She gave as good as she took when she matched up with big, strong defenders — she was very fast and powerful. She was very direct, would get the ball and go immediately to goal, and was very good at finishing by the end of her career."
