Cowboy ace named to Baseball America first team, D1Baseball third team
STILLWATER, Okla. -- Oklahoma State pitcher Michael Freeman was named to two more All-America teams today, earning first-team honors from Baseball America and a spot on the third team from D1Baseball.
Freeman is the 23rd player in OSU baseball history to be named a first-team All-American, and the Cowboy southpaw has now earned All-America plaudits from four different outlets, also picking up first-team honors from the NCBWA and second-team accolades from Louisville Slugger/Collegiate Baseball.
A native of Broken Arrow, Okla., the 6-foot-8 Freeman enjoyed a breakout senior season in 2015 as he was named the Big 12 Conference Pitcher of the Year after going 10-3 with a 1.31 ERA in 15 starts. He also racked up 97 strikeouts in 109.2 innings, and opponents hit just .184 against him.
A seventh-round draft pick of the Houston Astros in Tuesday's Major League Baseball Draft, Freeman is a finalist for the Gregg Olson Award and was a semifinalist for the National College Baseball Hall of Fame Pitcher of the Year Award.
