Cowboy Baseball Earns Academic All-Big 12 Accolades

OSU places program-record eight student-athletes on first team
IRVING, Texas -- Oklahoma State had nine players named to the 2015 Academic All-Big 12 Baseball Team, including a program-record eight on the first team, it was announced today by the league office.
The Cowboys' eight Academic All-Big 12 First Team selections is the most ever for the OSU program, besting the previous high of seven in both 2013 and 2007.
Highlighting the list of Cowboys are seniors Gage Green and Jon Perrin, who each earned Academic All-Big 12 First Team honors for the third time in their career. Perrin is a history major, while Green is majoring in health education and promotion.
Joining Green and Perrin on the first team are fellow seniors Bryan Case (management), Michael Freeman (biological science) and Hunter Hagler (education), along with juniors Conor Costello (management) and Alex Hackerott (finance) and sophomore Garrett Williams (finance). Earning second-team plaudits was sophomore Tyler Buffett (management).
Costello earned Academic All-Big 12 First Team accolades for the second-straight year, while Hackerott was a second-team performer in 2014.
In all, 80 players were named to the 2015 Academic All-Big 12 Baseball Team, with 51 of those on the first team and 29 on the second team. First-team members consist of those who have maintained a 3.20 or better grade point average while the second-team selections hold a 3.00 to 3.19 GPA.

To qualify, student-athletes must maintain a 3.00 GPA or higher either cumulative or the previous two semesters and must have participated in 60 percent of their team's scheduled contests. Freshmen and transfers are not eligible in their first year of academic residence. Senior student-athletes who have participated for a minimum of two years and meet all the criteria except percent of participation are also eligible.
