Cowboys Move Into 12th At NCAA Championship

BRADENTON, Fla. - Oklahoma State's men's golf team climbed two spots during the second round of play at the NCAA Championship on Saturday to stand alone in 12th place at Concession Golf Club.
The Cowboys posted a 6-over total of 294 during their second round and stand at 592, 16-over par, at the par-72, 7,483-yard layout. OSU will begin its third round just four shots out of seventh place. Southern California climbed into the top spot with a 3-under 285 and stands as the only team under par at 2-under 574. Illinois holds the No. 2 spot at 577.
Individually, SMU's Bryson Dechambeau fired a 5-under 67 to move into the top spot in the individual race at 7-under 137.
OSU's Zachary Olsen used his second consecutive 71 to move up seven spots into a tie for sixth place with five other players at 142. The sophomore was steady out of the gate, logging 12 consecutive pars to start his day. Olsen's only miscue of the round came at the par-3 fourth, where he carded his lone bogey of the day. After answering with a birdie at the seventh, he closed with a birdie at the ninth to finish with a closing nine of 1-under 35.
Jordan Niebrugge posted his second consecutive 75 to stand at 150 and tied for 60th place. The Cowboy junior was joined at 150 by redshirt freshman Brendon Jelley and true freshman Kristoffer Ventura. After opening with 76s, the duo signed for 74s on Saturday.
Sophomore Wyndham Clark carded a 79 to stand at 161 and tied for 149th place.
Additionally, the Golf Coaches Association of America named Niebrugge and Ventura as All-Central Region selections on Saturday.

The Cowboys will begin their third round tomorrow at 12:50 a.m. (EST) and will be grouped with Florida State and Auburn.
Play on Sunday will determine the top 15 teams and nine individuals not on an advancing team. Monday will feature the final day of stroke play to determine the top eight teams that will advance to match play as well as the 72-hole individual champion.
