Cowboys In Sixth At Big 12 Championship

TULSA, Okla. - Oklahoma State's men's golf team posted a 36-hole total of 594 on the first day of action at the Big 12 Championship on Monday to stand in sixth place at Southern Hills Country Club.
The Cowboys tallied a a 301 during their morning round at the par-70, 7,151-yard layout, giving them sole possession of eighth place. OSU used a 13-over 293 during its afternoon round to climb two spots into sixth place and get in four shots behind TCU.
Texas finished the day with a 7-over total of 567 for a 16-shot lead.
UT's Gavin Hall followed an opening 65 with a 71 for a 4-under total of 136 and a three-shot cushion in the individual race.
OSU sophomore Zachary Olsen followed an opening 75 with a 71 to get in with a 146 total and tied for 10th place.
After posting a 76 during his first round, junior Jordan Niebrugge carded a 73 to finish at 149 and tied for 18th place.
Redshirt freshman Brendon Jelley also posted a 73 during his afternoon round after opening with a 77 to stand at 150 and tied for 22nd.
Senior Tanner Kesterson carded a 73 during his first round before signing for a 79 to finish at 152 and tied for 31st place.
Freshman Kristoffer Ventura posted rounds of 82 and 76 for a 158 score to stand alone in 43rd place.
The Cowboys will begin their third round tomorrow at 8:50 a.m. and will be grouped with TCU and Oklahoma.
