Joe Smith Wins Fargo Title, Outstanding Wrestler

FARGO, N.D. – Incoming freshman Cowboy wrestler Joe Smith outscored his opponents 72-0 en route to the 160-pound Junior Freestyle National championship on Saturday afternoon at the Fargo Dome.
The championship performance also earned Smith the Outstanding Wrestler recognition as he blasted his seven opponents, winning each match by technical fall.
The title is Smith's first.
The other five Cowboys competing at the event earned Fargo All-America honors.
Kaid Brock and Lincoln Olson faced off twice during the tournament at 132 pounds, with Brock winning both matches. The two battled it out for third place but it was Brock who finished ahead.
The 138-pound bracket also pitted two Cowboys against each other for third place. Tristan Moran edged out Boo Lewallen for the third-place finish with a 6-6 win.
Andrew Marsden, who competed at 220 pounds finished seventh in the tournament.
