Cowboy Football: Success at Home

STILLWATER – Boone Pickens Stadium sits on the oldest stadium grounds for a college football field west of the Mississippi River.
Since 1919, Oklahoma State has provided a fan-base and home field advantage that has resulted in an incredible amount of success when the Cowboys take the field in Stillwater, and that level of success has only increased since the grounds hosted the grand opening of Boone Pickens Stadium in 2009.
The Cowboys' first game in the completed stadium was a win over the Georgia Bulldogs, setting the tone for a stadium that has earned a reputation for being a raucous environment and an incredibly difficult place for opposing teams to play.
One reason for that advantage is that every fan in attendance is close to the action and part of the gameday experience in the coziest 60,000-seat stadium in America.
With the fans right on top of the action, the Cowboys have gone 32-8 since the completion of Boone Pickens Stadium and built their all-time home-record to 327-191-26.
Further evidence is found in OSU's 80-28-5 record in home openers, including its ongoing school-record streak of 19, and 50-36-7 record in homecoming games.
The Cowboys have furthered that success even more under Coach Mike Gundy, going 49-16 at home since he took the reins of the program in 2005.
Gundy and the Cowboys plan on making that record even better in 2015, starting the home campaign on Sept. 12 vs. Central Arkansas.
