Preseason Media Poll Tabs Cowboy Football Fourth In Big 12
July 16, 2015 | Cowboy Football
IRVING, Texas – The Oklahoma State football team has been tabbed for a fourth-place conference finish in 2015 in media voting released by the Big 12 Conference Thursday afternoon.
The Cowboys finished with 289 points in the poll, to finish behind TCU, Baylor and Oklahoma in the summer balloting. All three of the teams predicted to finish in front of OSU will visit Boone Pickens Stadium in 2015.
In 2010, when the Cowboys claimed a share of the Big 12 South title, they were predicted to finish fifth in the six-team division. In 2011, when Oklahoma State claimed the outright Big 12 title, it was tabbed in the preseason poll as the third best team in the league.
The Cowboys return 19 starters from last year's 7-6 team. Eleven players on the offensive side of the ball have made at least seven career starts and eight defensive players, including preseason All-Big 12 selections Emmanuel Ogbah (defensive end), Ryan Simmons (linebacker) and Kevin Peterson (cornerback) have made at least six career starts. OSU returns 46 lettermen.
The Cowboys open the season on Thursday, Sept. 3, at Central Michigan. The home debut is Sept. 10 against Central Arkansas with kickoff set for 6:30 p.m.
