Foster, Perry and Perrelli Complete World Team Trials

MADISON, Wisc. -- Former Oklahoma State wrestlers Clayton Foster and Chris Perry faced off against each other twice at 86 kilograms in the first day of the Senior World Team Trials in Madison, Wisc.Â

The two Cowboys received wildcard bids to the tournament and met up in the first round with Perry taking the 3-2 decision, moving Foster into the back side of the bracket. In his second match of the day, Perry faced top-seed Keith Gavin in the semifinals, but was defeated 5-0. Perry and Foster fought their way through the consolation bracket, where they met up for the second time in the third-place match. This time, Foster walked away victorious with a 7-2 win to finish third. Perry took fourth.
Also representing OSU was club coach Frank Perrelli, who competed at 57 kg. The former Cornell All-American went 0-2 at the event, suffering losses to Matt McDonough and Brad Pataky, respectively.
The Trials will be completed on Sunday with Coleman Scott, (61 kg) Jon Morrison (61 kg), Jordan Oliver (65 kg), Tyler Caldwell (74 kg) andCayle Byers (97 kg) competing for spots on Team USA.
