Evans Helps USA Cruise To 103-81 Win Over Croatia

GREECE – Jawun Evans followed up Saturday's impressive international debut with another solid outing in USA Basketball's 103-81 win over Croatia on Sunday.
The future Oklahoma State guard tallied two rebounds and an assist, with no turnovers, while his team was +6 points with him on the floor. In two games at the FIBA World Championships Evans owns a plus/minus of +32, which ranks second on the team.
USA Basketball (2-0) now sits alone atop Group A with one game to play before the knockout round begins. On Tuesday, the Americans will take on Egypt, which fell to Croatia 111-68 on Saturday, at 8 a.m. Central. That game can be seen free at YouTube.com/FIBA.
A win over Egypt would make the USA the Group A winners, which would pit them against the fourth place team in Group D - currently Argentina - in Wednesday's elimination-round opener.
By stepping onto the floor Saturday, Evans became the third Cowboy to play for the U19 USA Basketball squad. Matt Clark (1979) and Marcus Smart (2013) both won FIBA World Championships with the U19 squad.
In all, 20 OSU players have suited up for USA Basketball at all age levels and six Cowboy coaches have represented the country on the international stage at some point in their careers.
