With the year's first major upon us, we present tweetable facts about Cowboy Golf and its history at The Masters.
· 24 Cowboys have combined to make 111 starts at The Masters.
· Scott Verplank leads the way with 15 starts, while Bob Tway is second with 13.
· OSU's first start at The Masters came in 1955 when Bo Wininger finished 66th.
· 10 Cowboys have competed at The Masters as an amateur with the most recent being junior Jordan Niebrugge, who was in the field last year.
· OSU has produced the low amateur on three occasions with the first being Labron Harris, Jr. (T32) in 1963. Lindy Miller tied for 16th in 1978 and Casey Wittenberg tied for 13th in 2004. Hunter Mahan was low amateur runner-up in 2003 when he tied for 28th.
· Through the years, Cowboys have combined to claim 22 pairs of crystal glasses/goblets for recording an eagle.
· OSU players have also collected three crystal vases for producing the day's low score.
· On eight occasions, a Cowboy has finished in the top 10. David Edwards and Jim Jamieson posted OSU's best finishes at The Masters, tying for third in 1984 and 1973, respectively.
· Last year, Rickie Fowler tie for fifth place, marking the first time since Edwards' showing that a Cowboy had placed in the top five.
· Bo Van Pelt's 64 in 2012 is tied for the lowest fourth-round score in tournament history.
· Casey Wittenberg's 31 in 2004 is the amateur tournament record for low second nine.
· In 2010, Hunter Mahan recorded four rounds under par and is one of just 53 players to do so.
· Van Pelt is one of 24 players to record a hole-in-one at The Masters, acing No. 16 in 2012.
· Scott Verplank is one of five players to eagle the par-4 first hole, doing so in 1987.
· Wittenberg is one of eight players to eagle the par-4 10th, making 2 in 2004.
· Van Pelt's hole-in-one at the 16th is one of 15 aces at the hole in tournament history.
· Verplank is the only player in tournament history to birdie the par-3 12th all four rounds, doing so in 2003.
· Miller's 286 total in 1976 is the third-lowest amateur total in tournament history.
· Wittenberg's 288 is tied for the seventh-best tally by an amateur at the event.
· Van Pelt (2011) and Edwards (1984) share the low score by a Cowboy at 8-under 280.
· Van Pelt's 64 during the final round in 2012 is the low 18-hole score by a Cowboy.
