STILLWATER -- The Oklahoma State football team held its 10th practice of spring ball Monday at the Sherman E. Smith Training Facility. After practice, safeties coach Dan Hammerschmidt shared his thoughts:
On Monday's practice:
"I thought it was good. I thought the guys were flying around. They had a couple picks. (Chris) Hardeman and I think (Miketavius Jones) had one. It was fun. I think there was a lot of energy and it was good."
On the safeties' development this spring:
"I think a pleasant surprise is Jerel Morrow has showed up. I think Dylan Harding is growing up. Obviously, (Jordan) Sterns has been solid. He's a rock back there. Tre Flowers has caused a lot of turnovers. He's getting a lot of points on the board. I think we're making progress. I think there's some good competition. I think especially at the strong safety position we have competition, and then we have a bunch of new guys coming in."
On priorities for the safeties:
"Physicality. It's all Coach Gundy wanted to talk about when we all got here and I believe in that and I think we all believe in that. The only way you get to the top of the mountain is being more physical than the other guys and practicing that way and hitting people and creating a physical mentality. I think that's all of ours goal."
On moving to Stillwater:
"I love Stillwater. I'm a college town guy. The big cities are great for a while until you sit in traffic for too long. Stillwater is a great college town and the people love the Cowboys. You've got to love one of those places where everywhere you go, they're all Cowboy fans."
