West Virginia coach Bob Huggins
On free throws
"Devin was obviously very good at the free throw line. We still missed some free throws. You don't understand unless you've done it. It's a lot easier to make free throws when you're up 10 instead of one or two. When we played Kansas we were up one or two, and you had young guys shooting who didn't have a lot of experience."
On shooting
"Daxter (Miles) shot much better today. I don't think Jaysean (Paige) is shooting as well as he should, but we're making plays. We're doing a really good job of keeping balls alive and getting second chances. We need to get more shots than the opposition."
On what has helped
"I think what has really helped is that we play a lot of people. We've played Chase (Connor) in some big games and crucial minutes. It's not like it's the first time they're out there when we play them, so I think that's what helps us."
On losing two seniors at this point in the season
"Brandon is probably going to have to have surgery when the season is over with. He's playing hurt. Nathan (Adrian) is playing hurt. Devin is playing hurt, but they play. They continue to respond. Jevon (Carter) got thrust the responsibility that Gary (Browne) and Juwan (Staten) had. Daxter (Miles) drives you crazy sometimes, but he makes plays. We have a bunch of guys that have some business for the hospital at the end of the year, but they want to play and don't want to let anyone down."
On the underclassmen's work ethic
"We must have told them a million times that we've never lost three in a row. They're not going to let the season go. They're too competitive to do that. Why are some people that way and others aren't? I don't know."
On difference in team without Juwan and Gary
It's a lot harder for me to make as many adjustments as I could with those guys. Those guys knew what was going on and knew where they were supposed to be. I don't know if we have anyone who can help the ones who don't know, because they might not even know. Juwan and Gary could get them in the right place and make them do the right thing. That's hard for the young guys right now."
On Tarik Phillip
"He's been really good. He's spent a lot of time in the gym. He's in there all the time. I look down from the office to a ball bouncing and he's in there. That's the way it has to be."
On seniors
"I try not to think about it because I get emotional. Kevin Noreen is on scholarship. He's one of our 13 guys. We've got three senior scholarship guys that aren't playing. We don't have as much depth and guys are playing heavier minutes than they did before. I don't think our pressure is as good because they get tired. It's not as constant, and our movement on offense isn't as good."
Oklahoma State coach Travis Ford
Opening Statement
"I thought West Virginia played really well. They have some guys who have really stepped up and played at a high level since the other two guys have been out. Miles played at a high level. Devin Williams is one of the better big men in our league. We didn't play bad, we just couldn't ever get the big rebound or the big stop that we needed to get a run going. We never got a run going. Congratulations to them, they have a great team and I think they have a chance to do some special things. Coming off of a tough loss the other night, they responded really well."
On defending Devin Williams
"You have to do better than we did. You have to block out a little better and make contact a little sooner."
On Oklahoma State's Offense
"We shot 54 percent from the field. We only had 4 turnovers in the second half, which isn't bad considering how many we had in the first half. We moved the ball around well and got some shots. We didn't get to the free throw line the way we were anticipating and I guess we fouled too much."
On Le'Bryan Nash
"He got in foul trouble in the first half and that didn't help. He got some decent looks at times but the offense wasn't really the issue. We didn't convert a couple of times down the stretch when we needed to. We didn't get enough rebounds today."
