Cowboys Add To Strength and Conditioning Staff

STILLWATER - Mark Smith and Anthony Hibbert have joined the Oklahoma State strength and conditioning staff, it was announced Friday. The two will work closely with Rob Glass and the Cowboy football program.
"We're very excited to have both Mark Smith and Anthony Hibbert join our strength staff here at Oklahoma State," Glass said. "Both coaches have a tremendous amount of experience in the field, and will only further expand the quality and depth of our staff."
Smith comes to the Cowboys from Southern Miss, where he spent the previous two seasons as the director of strength and conditioning for all Golden Eagle athletic teams.
Before his time at Southern Miss, Smith spent two years as the assistant director of strength and conditioning with the West Virginia football program. He also assisted with assigned Olympic sports.
Prior to his stint at West Virginia, Smith worked as the director of strength and conditioning for football at Tennessee in 2009. His other collegiate experience includes tenures at South Carolina, 2004-09 (director of strength and conditioning), Kansas, 2002-03 (director of strength and conditioning), Florida, 1998-2002 (assistant director of strength and conditioning) and NC State, 1993-98 (assistant director of strength and conditioning).
Smith served two stints in the NFL working with the New Orleans Saints (2004) and the Washington Redskins (2003-04).
A native of Kannapolis, N.C., Smith was a two-year starter and three-year letterwinner as a linebacker at NC State. He graduated with his bachelor's degree from NC State in 1989. After his collegiate career, he was signed as a free agent linebacker with the Dallas Cowboys. Smith and his wife, Frances, have two boys, Mark and Dylan.
Hibbert also comes to the Cowboys from Southern Miss, where he worked two years as the strength and conditioning coordinator for football and also worked with the baseball program.
Prior to his time with the Golden Eagles, Hibbert spent the 2012 season working with the football program at Livingstone College and the 2009-11 seasons on staff with the NFL's Carolina Panthers, where he worked as an assistant with the Panthers' strength and conditioning program.
Hibbert spent six years working in Columbia, S.C., as part of the strength and conditioning programs at South Carolina (2005-09) and Benedict College (2004). He also worked for the MLB's New York Mets, serving as an assistant strength and conditioning coach in the Mets' farm system from 2002-2003, and served at Calhoun Academy and Cardinal Newman High School when he was in South Carolina.
Hibbert, who served as a graduate assistant during his time at South Carolina, earned his masters of science degree in management. He is a 2001 graduate of Methodist University, where he earned a bachelor's degree in sports medicine and was a letterman in football. He is an NSCA certified strength and conditioning specialist (CSCS) and is also certified as a Strength and Conditioning Coach Certified (SCCC) and in sports massage therapy.
Hibbert is a native of Stuart, Fla. He and his wife, April, have three daughters, including twins Madison and Sophia (3), and Riley (2).
