STILLWATER - Dressed in shorts, jerseys and helmets, the Oklahoma State football team held its second practice of spring ball Wednesday at the Sherman E. Smith Training Facility. After the approximately two hour-long session, offensive coordinator Mike Yurcich shared his thoughts:
On how it feels to be back on the field:
"It feels real good. I'm excited. There's a lot of enthusiasm. It was a good day today."
On if the excitement from the end of last season has carried over:
"Yeah. I think our guys have a lot of momentum. They have a lot of enthusiasm about them and I do think there is some momentum there. These guys really like playing football. Regardless of whether it's spring or fall, they just enjoy being around each other and that's good to be a part of."
On what he's seen from his quarterback group:
"Some good, some bad, as always. We've just got to improve each day and understand what the defense is giving us and where to go with the ball. Made some good decisions today, made some really nice throws, and made a couple simple mistakes that we can easily clean up. It's day two, so on to the next one."
On seeing the new coaches on the field:
"Coach Adkins is the best I've been around. He's very smart. He's got great experience. Some offensive-mind coaches, I think, can talk about what they've learned watching somebody else do it, but I think Coach Adkins has done it all so he brings a tremendous amount of experience there. Coach McEndoo is great with kids; great with the players. He enjoys the game very much and he's very knowledgeable too. He has a lot of understanding of the run game, and what they did at Montana State is proof of that knowledge. It's great to be around those guys. Coach Arroyo is again a very experienced guy who knows the game extremely well. He's very enthusiastic in practice and has really embraced his role as running back coach for us."
