Cowgirl Tennis Cruises Past No. 41 Arkansas, 5-0

STILLWATER – Oklahoma State's 16th-ranked women's tennis team improved to 6-0 on the season on Sunday when it defeated No. 41 Arkansas, 5-0, at the Greenwood Tennis Center.
“I'm proud of the girls this weekend,” coach Chris Young said. “It was two good wins that should help us improve our ranking and our confidence moving forward. I think it also really prepared us for what we'll see at the Indoor Championships next weekend.”
The Cowgirls started the day, taking the doubles point, comfortably defeating their opponents on courts one and two. Fifth-ranked tandem of Viktoriya Lushkova and Kelsey Laurente produced a 6-3 win over the Lysa/Hudson duo after Katarina Adamovic and Vladica Babic put away their doubles match, 6-2.
With a 1-0 lead heading into singles, the Cowgirls continued with their momentum, winning four matches in singles.
First to strike was Kelsey Laurente, who downed her opponent with quick straight-set wins on court two, 6-0, 6-1.
Sophomore Carla Tur Mari extended the Cowgirls lead to 3-0, when she defeated Mia Jurasic, 6-1, 6-4, on court six.
No. 10 Lushkova bounced back from Saturday's singles loss with a 6-3, 6-0 victory over Shannon Hudson on court one to seal the match for the Pokes.
After the match was clinched, play continued on court three as Vladica Babic forced her match to a third set super tiebreaker. The freshman earned her fourth win of the spring with a 5-7, 6-0, 1-0(5) triumph over Yuliya Lysa.
Play on courts four and six was not finished.
OSU heads to the University of Virginia next weekend to take part in its first Team Indoor Championship on Feb. 6-9.
