Brock Named Big 12 Wrestler of the Week
December 15, 2015 | Cowboy Wrestling
STILLWATER—Oklahoma State wrestling's true freshman Kaid Brock was named Big 12 Wrestler of the Week for his varsity debut performance during the week of Dec. 7-13, the league announced today.
He is the third Cowboy to earn the honor this season.
Brock's performance on Sunday against the No. 7 Sooners helped lead the way for a Cowboy Wrestling upset victory. Brock was pulled from his redshirt and was set to take on defending NCAA champion and No. 2 Cody Brewer on his home mat in the 133-pound match.
The true freshman made a statement in his varsity debut, notching a takedown within the first 15 seconds. Brewer, a senior, escaped and was on the attack, but a fearless Brock put the Sooner to his back to get the fall in only 42 seconds.
Brock, who was also named FloWrestling's Wrestler of the Week, improved to 15-0 on the season with five falls and five technical falls.
