The Best Of 2015 Cowboy Baseball: Home Sweet Home
December 11, 2015 | Cowboy Baseball
The 2015 season added to the long and storied history of Oklahoma State baseball, with the list of Cowboy accomplishments under third-year head coach Josh Holliday a long one. We're looking back at some of the most memorable moments and impressive feats turned in by the '15 ballclub, and we conclude the series by highlighting OSU joining a list that includes just seven other programs.
OSU Hosts NCAA Regional At Allie P. Reynolds Stadium For Second-Straight Year
Oklahoma State has won 81 percent of its games in 34 seasons at Allie P. Reynolds Stadium.
With that type of success, it's always a luxury to be rewarded with an NCAA Regional host bid, and the Cowboys' success afforded them that honor again in 2015.
The host bid was the second in as many seasons for the Cowboys as OSU joined just seven other programs as NCAA Regional hosts in both 2014 and 2015 (along with LSU, Florida State, Louisville, Vanderbilt TCU, Florida and Miami).
OSU was the top-seeded team at the '15 NCAA Stillwater Regional, with second-seeded Arkansas, third-seeded Oral Roberts and No. 4-seed St. John's rounding out the field.
The Cowboys opened the Regional with a dramatic win over St. John's, with Tim Arakawa's walk-off single in the bottom of the ninth inning lifting OSU to a 5-4 victory.
OSU's bid for a second-straight NCAA Regional title would fall short, however, as the Cowboys fell to Arkansas before losing a rematch with St. John's.
The 2015 NCAA Stillwater Regional marked the 12th time OSU hosted a Regional tourney at Reynolds Stadium. The Cowboys are 37-13 all time in NCAA Regional play on their current home field and have won seven Regional titles.
OSU's 2015 Regional appearance marked the 41st in program history, which ranks fourth on the NCAA's all-time list. The Cowboys also rank in the top 10 all time with 140 wins in NCAA tourney play.
