Washington Named to Earl Campbell Tyler Rose Award Watch List
November 30, 2015 | Cowboy Football
STILLWATER – Oklahoma State sophomore receiver James Washington has been named a semifinalist for the Earl Campbell Tyler Rose Award, it was announced today.
Washington has been one of the nation's most dangerous deep threats over the second half of the 2015 season, scoring touchdowns in five of the Cowboys' last six contests. In OSU's Bedlam battle on Saturday, he finished with 169 yards and a 72-yard score, helping him become Oklahoma State's first 1,000-yard receiver since Josh Stewart in 2012.
In one of the most explosive four-game stretches of the season, Washington notched seven touchdowns between Oct. 24 and Nov. 21, a span that included a three-score performance against TCU. Overall, Washington's 10 receiving touchdowns ties for 14th in the nation and ranks fourth in the Big 12.
His 72-yard touchdown against Oklahoma gave the Stamford, Texas native his fourth catch of 70 or more yards this season, a mark that tops the country. Washington also ranks in the top 25 nationally in receiving yards (1,077), receiving yards per game (89.8) and yards per reception (20.71).
The Earl Campbell Tyler Rose Award Selection Committee is comprised of Texas-based journalists and college football dignitaries and, in subsequent years, each of the all-time winners. Following today's semifinalist selections, the selection committee will select up to five finalists in December. The recipient of the award will be announced in January.
