Ogbah Named Semifinalist for Walter Camp Award
November 18, 2015 | Cowboy Football
STILLWATER – Oklahoma State defensive lineman Emmanuel Ogbah has been selected as one of 15 national semifinalists for the Walter Camp Player of the Year honor, it was announced today.
Ogbah has been a key component of Oklahoma State's outstanding defensive unit this season, one that ranks second in the Big 12 in scoring defense.
Individually, Ogbah has emerged as one of the best defensive threats in the nation in 2015. In addition to leading the Big 12 and ranking third nationally with 11.0 sacks, Ogbah currently stands as the NCAA's active career sacks leader, boasting 26.0 sacks in his three-year career.
Ogbah has also shattered the quarterback hurries section of the Oklahoma State record books in 2015. His 17 hurries in only ten games this season is more than twice the previous single-season record, and his 24 career quarterback hurries has already established a new all-time high.
Of the 15 players remaining on the Walter Camp Football Foundation's Player of the Year Award watch list, Ogbah joins Iowa's Desmond King as one of only two defensive players considered for the award.
The Walter Camp Player of the Year is voted on by the 129 Football Bowl Subdivision head coaches and sports information directors. A list of five finalists will be announced on Wednesday, December 2, and the winner broadcast live on ESPN SportsCenter on Thursday, December 10.
