Cowgirl Soccer: Looking Back & Ahead

Oklahoma State recorded a pair of ties last weekend to pick up two points in the Big 12 Conference standings. On Friday, the Cowgirls battled 14^th-ranked Texas Tech to a 2-2 draw before closing out the weekend with a 0-0 outcome against Texas. OSU is now 5-6-2 overall and 0-2-2 in conference play. Up next, the Cowgirls host a pair of non-conference foes — Drake (Wed.) and Oral Roberts (Fri.).

Weekend Highlights

OSU's 2-2 tie against No. 14 Texas Tech gives the Cowgirls a 1-2-1 record against ranked teams this season.
The Cowgirls scored both goals against Texas Tech during a 3:57 span in the second half, with Laurene Tresfield heading in a Christina Jean-Charles corner kick for the first goal and Allie Stephenson converting OSU's first penalty kick of the season for the second.
In Sunday's game, OSU outshot Texas by a 22-11 margin that included a 20-5 advantage after intermission.
Michela Ongaro recorded her third shutout of the season with four saves against Texas. The shutout was the seventh of her career, which is tied for sixth on OSU's career list.
Three OSU defenders — Delaney Kiely, Christina Jean-Charles and Natalie Calhoun — played all 220 minutes on the weekend.
OSU is now 3-1-2 on its home field this season.

Michela Ongaro finished with nine saves in 220 minutes of action in goal on the weekend, including recording five stops against a Texas Tech squad that fired 27 shots. Delaney Kiely led an OSU back line that was stout throughout the weekend, while head coach Colin Carmichael also praised the play of midfielder Anna Beffer.

OSU hosts a pair of matches this weekend in its final non-conference action of the regular season. The Cowgirls face Drake in a rare midweek contest Wednesday at 7 p.m. before a Friday showdown against Oral Roberts, which also kicks off at 7 p.m.
Drake is 5-7-0 on the season and has won its last two matches. Midfielders Rebecca Rogers and Alyssa Brand lead the Bulldogs with five goals apiece.
Wednesday's match will mark the first-ever meeting between OSU and Drake on the pitch.
Oral Roberts 5-5-2 on the season, which includes a 1-3-1 record on the road. The Golden Eagles are led by forwards Kayla Keller (four goals, three assists) and Brittney Lawrence (five goals).
OSU is 10-2-0 all time against ORU and has won the last eight meetings. The two teams last faced off in 2011 in Stillwater with the Cowgirls claiming a 1-0 victory.

OSU will be wearing special pink jerseys Wednesday vs. Drake in support of the fight against breast cancer. The jerseys will be auctioned off during Friday's match, with all proceeds going to the Susan G. Komen organization fund to support the fight against breast cancer. All fans are also encouraged to wear pink to Wednesday's match to increase breast cancer awareness.
