Heil to Wrestle in NWCA All-Star Classic
October 05, 2015 | Cowboy Wrestling
STILLWATER, Okla. – Oklahoma State sophomore Dean Heil is one of 20 wrestlers selected to compete in the NWCA All-Star Classic, scheduled for Nov. 1 in Atlanta, the NWCA announced today.
Heil is slated to take on 2015 NCAA Champion at 133 pounds Cody Brewer of Oklahoma in a 141-pound showdown.
"This year is a special year for Oklahoma State with the celebration of our 100 years of wrestling," Heil said. "That to me is more than enough motivation to make this year a memorable one, and there's no better way to start it off than by being selected for the All-Star dual. The All-Star match to me will show how much I've improved since the end of last season, and how well I've prepared myself for this coming season. As the highest returning placer at the NCAAs I'm looking to make an impression at this match to show that I'm the guy to beat this year."
After an impressive run at his first NCAA Championships that saw him defeat three top-ten opponents, the then-freshman earned his first All-American honors, placing fourth.
Heil will join teammates Alex Dieringer and Kyle Crutchmer at the event, making that 90 Cowboy wrestlers to have competed at the All-Star Classic.
The event will be held at Georgia Tech's Hank McCamish Pavilion in Atlanta on Nov. 1. Live streaming of the All-Star Classic can be found on ESPNU. Tickets are available here.
