Cowgirl Soccer: Looking Back & Ahead

Oklahoma State ran its unbeaten streak to five and picked up its first Big 12 Conference win of 2015 with a 1-0 victory over Iowa State last Friday night in Ames. The Cowgirls are now 8-6-2 overall and 1-2-2 in league play with three games remaining in the regular season.

Week Highlights

OSU pushed its winning streak to three games with the 1-0 triumph over Iowa State. With a pair of ties prior to the winning streak, the Cowgirls have not lost since Sept. 27 at TCU.
The win marked only OSU's third ever in Ames as the Cowgirls are now 3-7-1 all time at Iowa State. The other victories there came in 1996 and 2011.
Allie Stephenson recorded the game's lone goal in Ames. It was her fourth of the season, which is tied for second on the Cowgirls, and 18^th of her career.
The 1-0 victory also marked OSU's fourth consecutive shutout. Goalie Michela Ongaro collected a pair of saves to record her fourth shutout of the season and eighth of her career.

Through 16 games this season, OSU has recorded 31 goals and 20 assists. In 21 games in 2014, the Cowgirls had 22 goals and 15 assists.
Thirteen different OSU players have scored goals this season, with six of those recording three or more. Nine different Cowgirls have collected assists.
OSU ranks second in the Big 12 in goals (31), shots (281) and corner kicks (97).
Of OSU's 281 shots this season, 126 have been on goal for a .448 shots on goal percentage; its opponents own a .335 shots on goal percentage.
Three OSU players rank in the top 10 in the Big 12 in goals — Courtney Dike is tied for sixth with five, while Allie Stephenson and Marlo Zoller each have four goals and are tied for 10^th.
Dike also ranks in the top 10 in the Big 12 in assists (tied for 2^nd with six) and points (5^th with 16). She is also eighth with 41 shots.
Allie Stephenson now ranks third on OSU's career shots list with 210, trailing only Siera Strawser (283) and Yolanda Odenyo (245).
Michela Ongaro ranks sixth on OSU's career shutouts list with eight, and with her two saves against Iowa State, she became just the sixth Cowgirl goalie to reach 100 career saves. Her current goals against average of 0.98 is fourth on the program's all-time list.
In the latest official NCAA RPI released today, OSU checks in at No. 85.

OSU hosts its final home matches of the 2015 regular season at the Cowgirl Soccer Complex this weekend when it takes on No. 2 West Virginia Friday at 7 p.m. and Kansas Sunday at 1 p.m.
Admission to Friday's match is free, while Sunday's match will be Senior Day, with seven Cowgirl seniors — Kelsey Bass, Delaney Kiely, Haley Maurice, Madison Mercado, Lauren Reyes, Allie Stephenson and Madeline Wood — being recognized following the match.
West Virginia is 14-1-1 on the season and atop the Big 12 standings with a 5-0-1 league mark. The Mountaineers lone loss came Aug. 23 against Virginia Tech, and they tied Oklahoma on Oct. 9.
WVU is led by All-American Kadeisha Buchanan, a member of the Canadian National Team who anchors a defense that has allowed only four goals this season. The Mountaineers also have the Big 12's top goal scorer in Michaela Abam, who has found the back of the net 10 times this season.
OSU is 0-4-0 all time against West Virginia, with each match being decided by one goal.
Kansas enters a Friday match at Texas Tech with an 8-6-1 record and is in fourth in the Big 12 standings with a 3-2-0 mark.
The Jayhawks are led by the senior duo of Liana Salazar (4 goals, 4 assists) and Ashley Williams (3 goals, 3 assists).
OSU is 9-9-3 all time against Kansas. The Jayhawks were 2-1 winners over the Cowgirls last season in Lawrence.
