STILLWATER – Several former members of the Oklahoma State football team saw action in week five of the NFL season.
Brandon Weeden continued his reign as the starting quarterback of the Dallas Cowboys, but was unable to formulate a victory over the undefeated New England Patriots. Weeden was successful on 26 of 39 pass attempts, chipping in 188 yards in a 30-6 defeat.
Each of the Cowboys' six points in the contest came through the leg of Dan Bailey, who connected on two field goals, including a 51-yard boot in the first quarter. With eight made field goals in eight attempts, Bailey has been perfect in Dallas' kicking game this season.
Also active in the Dallas offense was running back Joseph Randle, who provided 60 yards on the ground and 13 yards on four catches.
After sitting out the first four weeks with an injury, Detroit Lions tight end Brandon Pettigrew made his season debut on Sunday. The former OSU standout recorded three catches for 29 yards as the Lions fell to the Arizona Cardinals, 41-17.
Justin Gilbert and Perrish Cox, both former All-Americans at the cornerback spot, recorded two tackles each in their respective contests. Gilbert's Cleveland Browns fell to the San Diego Chargers, 30-27, while Cox and the Tennessee Titans dropped a close 14-13 decision to the Buffalo Bills.
