Oklahoma State Post-Game Notes
Final Score: Oklahoma State 64, No. 20/19 Baylor 53
► Tuesday's game marked the 14th anniversary of the Jan. 27, 2001 plane crash that took the lives of 10 members of the Oklahoma State basketball family. The Ten were honored prior to the game with a moment of silence. At halftime, the Remember the Ten committee presented a check to OSU Counseling Services.
► Baylor went on an 11-0 run early in the first half, but the Cowboys weathered the storm and closed out the first half on a 24-8 run to take a 30-21 advantage into the locker room at halftime. The Pokes drained 5-of-10 attempts from three-point range in the opening stanza and held an 18-15 advantage on the boards against a Baylor team that entered the game ranked third nationally in rebounding margin. In its previous five games, OSU had struggled in the first half, converting on .331 pct. from the field and .240 pct. from three prior to intermission. The Pokes shot .462 pct. from the field and .500 pct. from deep in the first half against the Bears.
► Perhaps Baylor's biggest strength entering the game was rebounding. The Bears averaged an offensive rebound on 43.8 percent of their missed shots before Tuesday's game and ranked in the top six nationally in rebounding margin, rebounds per game and offensive rebounds per game. Against the Cowboys, Baylor managed only a 35-34 rebounding advantage and grabbed 13 offensive rebounds on 36 misses (.361 pct.)
► Oklahoma State's defense successfully derailed the Baylor offense, as the Bears managed only .345 shooting from the field against OSU, well down from the .387 pct. shooting they averaged in Big 12 play prior to their date with the Cowboys.
► Tavarius Shine set a new career high with 11 points. He was four-of-five from the field and three-for-three from three-point range. His previous career best was a 10-point effort in OSU's win over Tulsa in Las Vegas.
► Anthony Hickey set a new career high with 10 assists. That total was the most for a Cowboy since Marcus Smart had 10 against Texas Tech last season.
► Michael Cobbins grabbed a season-high 11 rebounds and matched a career high by blocking five shots.
► Phil Forte scored 16 points to up his career total to 1,136. He passed both Mario Boggan and Chianti Roberts on the OSU career scoring list and now ranks 30th among on the Cowboys career chart. Additionally, he matched a career high with five rebounds.
