Glenn Nabs Big 12 Runner of the Week Award
September 16, 2014 | Cowgirl Cross Country & Track
IRVING, Texas -
Oklahoma State cross country senior Caileigh Glenn has been named the Big 12 Women's Cross Country Runner of the Week, the conference announced today.
Glenn, a native of Newmarket, Canada, delivered one of the best distance performances of her career at last weekend's Bluegrass Invitational, as her fifth-place time of 17:02.50 set an individual best and guided the Cowgirls to a third-place team finish. Glenn improved her personal best in the 5K by more than a minute, shattering her previous mark of 18:22.94 set at the 2011 Cowboy Jamboree.
The honor gives the Oklahoma State women's squad its first Big 12 Women's Cross Country Runner of the Week award in nearly a decade, as Glenn becomes the first Cowgirl to receive the accolade since Mary Davies was recognized on Oct. 12, 2004.
Glenn also becomes the second member of the Oklahoma State cross country program to win the award in 2014, joining redshirt freshman Luis Martinez, who earned the men's weekly honor on Sept. 2.
