Oklahoma State Post-Game Notes vs. UTSA
Boone Pickens Stadium | Stillwater, Okla. | Sept. 13, 2014
:: Oklahoma State head coach Mike Gundy, now in his 10th season at the helm, improved his career record to 79-39.
:: Tonight's win marked OSU's 12th-straight victory over a non-conference opponent in Stillwater.
:: Oklahoma State has now won 24-straight home games against unranked opponents dating back to a loss to Houston in 2009.
:: OSU is now 22-1 against non-conference opposition in Boone Pickens Stadium during the Mike Gundy era (2005-present).
:: Serving as Oklahoma State captains today were Chris Grisbhy, Ashton Lampkin, Jordan Sterns and David Glidden.
:: With touchdown drives of 1:46, 1:49 and 1:27, OSU extended its streak of recording at least one touchdown drive of two minutes or less to 37 games. The Cowboys have achieved that feat in 54 of their last 55 games.
:: OSU has now scored 20 or more points in 55 consecutive games dating back to the start of the 2010 season. That streak is the second-longest since Division I split into the FBS/FCS in 1978, trailing only USC's 63-straight games of 20 or more points from Sept. 2, 2002 through Nov. 25, 2006.
:: The Cowboy defense continued to come up big in third down situations. OSU's first two opponents (Florida State and Missouri State) combined to convert just 8-of-28 (28.6 percent) on their third down opportunities, and UTSA was only 3-of-17 on third down chances.
:: James Washington's 33-yard touchdown catch in the opening quarter was the first scoring grab of the freshman's career.
:: Sophomore Ben Grogan booted a career-long 47-yard field goal in the second quarter, besting his previous long of 41 set twice last season against Oklahoma.
:: Senior safety Larry Stephens racked up a career-high six tackles. He had a previous high of five three times, including last week vs. Missouri State.
:: Junior quarterback Daxx Garman made his first-career start for the Cowboys.
:: Junior Ashton Lampkin's 50-yard interception return for a touchdown marked OSU's first defensive score of the season. It was Lampkin's second interception of the season and third of his career.
:: Sophomore safety Jordan Sterns has twice set career highs in tackles this season. Tonight he bested his previous high of eight set in the season opener against Florida State with nine stops against the Roadrunners.
:: Sophomore Marcell Ateman tied a career best with four catches (set twice last season) and set a new career high with 70 receiving yards, topping the 53-yard effort he had against Kansas last season.
