Cowboys Move Into Fourth At Olympia Fields

OLYMPIA FIELDS, Ill. - Oklahoma State's men's golf team posted a 296 during its second round at the Olympia Fields/Fighting Illini Invitational on Saturday to move into fourth place at Olympia Fields Country Club.
The Cowboys' 16-over score put them at 591, 31-over, and two shots behind Florida State at the par-70, 7,290-yard layout. Baylor posted a 1-under 279 during its second round to stand at 576 and eight shots clear of the field.
Three players shared the top spot on the individual leaderboard with Stanford's Maverick McNealy, Baylor's Kyle Jones and Illinois' Dylan Meyer all getting in at 2-over 142.
OSU's Wyndham Clark followed an opening 69 with a 75 to stand in a five-way tie for seventh place at 144. The sophomore rallied after a 7-over 42 on his front nine with a 2-under 33 on his inward nine to finish at 5-over par for the day.
Redshirt freshman Stratton Nolen led the way for the Cowboy starting five, posting a 2-over 72 to card the squad's low round of the day. He moved into a tie for 30th place at 149.
Sophomore Zachary Olsen's 75 tied him for 30th place as well.
Freshman Sam Stevens posted a 77 to come in tied for 44th at 152, while redshirt freshman Brendon Jelley signed for a 74 to finish a stroke back at 153 and tied for 49th place.
The Cowboys will begin their final round tomorrow at 7:30 a.m. and will be grouped with Colorado and Virginia Tech.
Of Note
Cowboy freshman Kristoffer Ventura competed this week for Norway at the World Amateur Team Championship in Karuizawa, Japan. Ventura's squad tied for 25th in the team race, while he posted rounds of 70, 71, 70 and 69 to finish at 6-under 280 and tied for 51st place.
