Cowboy Football Adds Full-Time Nutritionist
August 26, 2014 | Cowboy Football
STILLWATER – The Oklahoma State football team has added a full-time nutritionist to its staff with the hiring of Charles Hewitt, the team announced.
Hewitt, who began his work at OSU in early August, comes to Stillwater after spending the previous year completing a dietetic internship and finishing his certification at Oakwood University in Huntsville, Ala. Prior to that, Hewitt worked for two years at North Carolina State, where he helped build its sports nutrition program under Michelle Rockwell.
After receiving a bachelor of science degree in Nutritional Science from Texas A&M in 2008, Hewitt stayed on with the Aggies as a graduate assistant for nutrition and strength and conditioning until 2011, working under Amy Bragg, who is now the Director of Performance Nutrition at Alabama, and Dave Kennedy, who is now the head strength and conditioning coach for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
In addition to his credentials as a nutritionist, Hewitt walked on to the Texas A&M football team as an outside linebacker and strong safety for the 2006 and 2007 seasons.
