STILLWATER, Okla. - The Oklahoma State women's cross country team has been named the No. 23 team in the nation, according to the Flotrack preseason poll.
The Cowgirls, who reached as high as No. 18 in the 2013 polls, bring a talented incoming class into their 2014 campaign, as well as multiple returnees from last season's squad, which finished third in the Big 12.
Seniors Monika Juodeskaite and Natalja Piliusina are expected to lead the team, as both of the Cowgirls boast numerous accomplishments in NCAA competition.
Juodeskaite returns from a 23rd-place finish at last year's NCAA Championships, a performance that awarded her with OSU's first female All-America honor since 2000. Piliusina, a six-time All-American in track and field competition, returns looking to tack on to that mark and give the Cowgirls their first Big 12 Championship.
Flotrack is releasing its preseason polls on a periodic basic leading up to Aug. 26, when the complete set of rankings will be finalized. Oklahoma State opens the season on Saturday, Aug. 30, when the Cowgirls travel to Tulsa, Okla., to compete in the Tulsa Duels.
