Jordan Niebrugge Moves On At Public Links

NEWTON, Kan. - Oklahoma State's Jordan Niebrugge opened the match play portion of the U.S. Amateur Public Links Championship on Wednesday with a 4-and-2 victory over Zecheng Dou at Sand Creek Station Golf Course.
The event's defending champion, Niebrugge never trailed in the match after taking his first lead at the third with a birdie. He extended to a 2-up advantage with another birdie at the sixth before pushing the margin to three with a birdie at the 11th. The rising junior closed out the match with a par at the 16th.
Niebrugge advanced to match play after tying for 46th place during stroke play. The Mequon, Wis., native carded rounds of 74 and 72 for a 4-over total of 146.
He will face Easton Paxton in the round of 32 tomorrow morning at 7:50 a.m.
