STILLWATER, Okla. - The Oklahoma State wrestling team was honored as a 2014 Division I All-Academic Top 30 Team, with Nolan Boyd, Tyler Caldwell, Anthony Collica, Josh Kindig and Chris Perry receiving recognition as members of the individual All-Academic Wrestling Team, the National Wrestling Coaches Association announced today.
Perry is one of three NCAA champions who was named to the individual team, while Caldwell and Kindig are two of four finalists to receive the honor. Boyd and Collica were both NCAA qualifiers in 2014 as well.
The team grade-point average was determined using a system that includes 12 student-athletes from each program. A total of 10 of these came from the wrestlers that were entries in the NCAA tournament conference qualifier. If teams had less than 10 entries for their respective qualifier, they were allowed to fill those spots with wrestlers that competed in at least one varsity dual during the season.
Oklahoma State is one of just three teams in the country to earn at least five spots on the individual All-Academic team, joining Oklahoma and The Citadel.
