STILLWATER, Okla. – "How I Got Here" is a series that asks Oklahoma State football players to detail their football background and careers and how they got to where they are now. Today's edition features safety Larry Stephens from Houston, Texas.

On how he got into football
“I started playing football when I was young. I started playing since I was about eight-years-old. I basically grew up watching it. I always liked to play, and I watched my brothers play, too.”
On the person who has had the biggest impact on his football career
“Probably my coach in high school had the biggest impact. He made me a better player, and he made me have that competitive edge about myself.”
On why he chose to play safety
“I just liked to play defense. I like to stop them from scoring and not everybody can do that. I'm proud to be a defensive player. I like hitting people and I like getting interceptions.”
