NORMAN -- Oklahoma State senior Ari Morrison hit a two-run home run in her final regular-season game as a Cowgirl, but OSU could not overcome timely hitting by Oklahoma as the No. 10 Sooners defeated the Cowgirls 11-3 in five innings here in the final game of the regular season. Oklahoma State junior Gessenia DeLaCruz added a solo homer of her own in the contest.
The Sooners score three runs in the bottom of the first on a three-run home run by Brittany Williams, giving OU a 3-0 lead. The Sooners added four more unearned runs in the second to increase their lead to 7-0.
Oklahoma State cut the lead to five in the third on Morrison's home run, her second of the season and the fifth of her career, over the fence in rightfield. The Cowgirls made the score 7-3 in the fourth when DeLaCruz's fly ball down the leftfield line just made it over the wall at the foul pole and over the outstretched glove of OU's Paris Townsend. It was the shortstop's fifth homer of the season and the eighth of her career.
Oklahoma scored a run in the fourth on a pair of hits, and added three more in the fifth including two on a home run by Erin Miller.
Morrison and junior Shelby Davis both went 2-for-3 with a run scored. Danielle Riddle had the only other hit for the Cowgirls who had six in the game. OSU senior Simone Freeman allowed 11 runs (seven earned) on 14 hits while walking two and striking out three. She finished the season with a 21-17 mark.
The Cowgirls finished the season with a 26-28 overall record, including 5-13 in Big 12 play. Of OSU's 28 losses this season, 14 were to ranked opponents, and 13 were by one run.
