STILLWATER - "Five Questions" is a series that catches up with members of the Oklahoma State wrestling team during the off-season. This installment features Jordan Rogers. His comments:
On what he accomplished last season:
"I think experience was the biggest thing that I accomplished in the season, like getting to travel with the team. I was able to experience what it was really like competing at duels and all that stuff. The biggest thing was the experience of traveling and competing with the team."
On his favorite memories from the last season:
"Definitely watching Dieringer and Perry win their national titles. Those are definitely among the top memories from last season getting to watch those guys. Perry, in particular, because I was able to help him out a lot the last few weeks leading up to nationals. For me. that was pretty awesome to see Perry go out there and win. I got to kind of play a part in that and help Perry prepare for that match."
On how he can improve next year:
"The biggest thing is taking the experience from this year. I think I could have done a lot better this year. I just didn't quite perform as well. I think there are some mental things that I need to overcome. I need to take that into perspective going into next season and really preparing myself. I need to do everything necessary to turn that certain spot and to be the best wrestler by putting in the extra time and building up that mental toughness."
On what he is doing this summer:
"I had a tournament last weekend in Vegas. My plan was to go to the junior world team trials. I will probably just work some camps over the summer and take some summer classes at OSU. I will do lifting and I want to get a lot bigger and stronger. I want to put as much weight on as I can."
On his goals for next season:
"My goal for next season is to win a national title. It might seem a little farfetched from not even making it to the national tournament to winning a national title, but there's just some little things I need to fix. I think I see what it is that I need to do to get there next year. It's up to me going and doing it. My goal is to win a national title."
