STILLWATER, Okla. -- The Oklahoma State women's soccer team defeated Oral Roberts University, 2-1, on Friday night at the Cowgirl Soccer Complex.
"The first 20 minutes, as you would expect, from our perspective was pretty rusty," coach Colin Carmichael said. "There were a lot of mistakes and a lot of bad touches, but that was to be expected. We stretched the field, passed the ball well and created a lot of good looks. For our first spring game, we're really happy."
The first goal of the night came from Cowgirl forward Allie Stephenson in the 38th minute of play to give the Cowgirls an advantage that the Golden Eagles could not overcome.
Early in the second half, the Pokes notched their second goal of the night, thanks to a goal by Madison Mercado with the assist from Courtney Dike at the 60-minute mark.
ORU answered with a goal of its own just five minutes later by Kayla Keller, but it was not enough as the Cowgirls took the victory, 2-1.
The Cowgirls return to action on March 29, when they take on Ole Miss in Little Rock, Ark.
