Seven Wrestlers Honored for Academic Success

STILLWATER—The Big 12 Conference has announced that seven Oklahoma State wrestlers have been named to the 2014 Academic All-Big 12 wrestling team.
OSU's first-team honorees include Darnell Bortz, Nolan Boyd, Tyler Caldwell, Tommy Diaz, Josh Kindig and Chris Perry. Senior Blake Rosholt was named a second-team selection. The Cowboys and Oklahoma led the league with seven selections each.
Perry caps off his time at OSU as a four-time Academic All-Big 12 selection. This is also his second-straight first team honor.
Tyler Caldwell received his second honor, this time nominated with a perfect 4.00 grade point average. The first came in 2011 while he was a student-athlete at Oklahoma.
Rosholt and Diaz are also receiving the honor for the second time in their career.
The 2014 Academic All-Big 12 team is made up of 16 student-athletes, including 14 first team honorees and two second team selections.
First team members consist of those who have maintained a 3.20 or better GPA while the second team selections hold a 3.00 to 3.19 GPA.
To qualify, student-athletes must maintain a 3.00 GPA or higher either cumulative or the two previous semesters and must have participated in 60 percent of their team's scheduled contests. Freshmen and transfers are not eligible in their first year of academic residence. Senior student-athletes who have participated for a minimum of two years and meet all the criteria except percent of participation are also eligible.
