Running Back Desmond Roland
On why he started playing football
“My two older brothers played, so I grew up watching them play when I was younger and immediately wanted to follow in their footsteps. I loved putting on the pads when I was a kid and they only let me play flag-football for two days because I was too big.”
On what position he played growing up
“I started out playing defensive end my first three years. I finally got to play offense, as well, after three years and by the middle of the season they started letting me play running back because I ran so well. I have been playing running back every year since.”
On his favorite part of playing running back
“Scoring touchdowns, making big plays and hearing your name called out across the stadium is my favorite thing about playing running back.”
On his biggest influence in his career
“My dad has always been there for me and has always been my inspiration. He has always given me great advice and has really helped keep me focused. If I had a good game he will always let me know but he also lets me know when I have a bad game and he will give me the advice I need.”
On why he chose Oklahoma State
“I loved the family environment when I got here. From the players to all the coaches, they really welcomed me in when I took my visit here. I was born in Oklahoma City so it has been easy for all my family to come and watch me play. It's close to Texas as well. I just love competing in the Big 12 and we have had great success every year I have been here.”
On his college career to this point and heading into the future
“It has been a growing process. I feel like I have learned so much on and off the field since I got here. It finally translated onto the field this year after working hard all that time. I am looking forward to working hard this spring and working towards the season. I will also be graduating early and getting my degree in December.”
