STILLWATER – “Five Questions” is a series that catches up with members of the football team during the off-season. This installment features defensive end Sam Wren. His comments:
Defensive End Sam Wren
On his favorite memory at OSU
“The whole experience has been great. My favorite memory is beating Baylor because I felt like we came to play. It was fun and a great experience to play in that – the whole atmosphere. GameDay was here and everything. It was just a great experience for me. I had never experienced anything like that before.”
On who's had the biggest impact on his football career
“I always give everything to God, for one, so he's had the biggest impact on my career. Also, my dad; I really wouldn't be here if it weren't for him, in this situation. Him and my mom.”
On how spring ball is going
“Spring ball is going great. Being in my second year at D1, it's just different. I've been here, I know what to expect and I know what to do. It's just about going out there and perfecting my craft and getting better every day.”
On his favorite thing about playing defensive end
“My favorite thing about playing defensive end is really you get to hit. I just like to hit, to be honest. I still have to make a lot of plays, it's just that my favorite thing is to hit.”
On his offseason goals
“To be mentally ready and focused on what I need to do to help my team win. Anything I have to do I'll do to help my team win. If I have to do things to help the line get ready, that's what I'll do. That's one of my biggest goals: to be ready. Another thing is to be injury free; to play healthy so I can accomplish my goals and be 100 percent to make it happen. Keep working and keep getting better. That's why I'll be here training. I'll be in tip-top shape. That's the plan.”
