Cowboys Dip Into Fifth Place In Arizona

TUCSON, Ariz. - Oklahoma State's men's golf team carded an even-par 288 on Saturday during its second round at the National Invitational Tournament to dip two spots into fifth place at Tucson National.
The Cowboys' 36-hole total of 570, 6-under par, put them two shots behind San Diego State for the fourth position. California carded a 281 during its second round at the par-72, 7,200-yard layout to take control of the event at 549. The Bears will begin tomorrow's final round 16 shots clear of SMU, which posted the low round of the day with a 13-under 275 to move into second place.
Cal's Michael Weaver moved to the top of the leaderboard with a 70, giving him a 7-under 137 total and a one-shot lead.
OSU redshirt freshman Wyndham Clark's 72 moved him into a tie for seventh place at 140. Senior Talor Gooch moved up 15 spots into a tie for 11th place at 141 after firing a 69 on Saturday.
Freshman Zachary Olsen finished the day tied for 19th place at 143, while sophomore Jordan Niebrugge carded a 75 to stand at 147 and tied for 44th place.
Senior Ian Davis' second consecutive 74 tied him for 51st place at 148.
Senior Kevin Dougherty, who is competing individually, posted a 77 for a 149 total, tying him for 56th place.
The Cowboys will begin their third round tomorrow at 8:45 a.m. (MST) and will be grouped with San Diego State and UNLV. Live scoring for the event is available at golfstat.com.
