Cowboys In Third In Arizona

TUCSON, Ariz. - Oklahoma State's men's golf team posted a 282 during its first round at the National Invitational Tournament on Friday to stand in third place at Tucson National.
The Cowboys' 6-under tally put them a stroke behind tournament host Arizona for second place at the par-72, 7,200-yard layout. California surged to the top of the leaderboard with a 20-under total of 268.
Cal's Brandon Hagy fired an 8-under 64 to stand three shots clear of teammate Michael Weaver in the individual race.
OSU's Wyndham Clarkwas one of five players to finish the day tied for third place after posting a 4-under 68. The redshirt freshman birdied his second hole of the day before moving back to level par with his lone bogey at the par-3 fourth hole. Clark made the turn at 2-under 34 with birdies at Nos. 6 and 8. After another birdie at the 10th, his fifth and final birdie of the day came at the 15th hole.
Freshman Zachary Olsencarded a 70 to come in just outside the top 10, sharing 12th place.
Sophomore Jordan Niebrugge and senior Talor Goocheach carded 72s to stand in a tie for 26th place.
Senior Ian Davisposted a 74, tying him for 44th place.
Competing individually, senior Kevin Dougherty carded a 72 of his own to finish among the group tied for 26th place.
The Cowboys will begin their second round at 9:30 a.m. (MST) and will be grouped with California and Arizona.
