Cowgirl Soccer Signs Duo

STILLWATER, Okla. - A pair of student-athletes signed national letters of intent Wednesday to play soccer at Oklahoma State for head coach Colin Carmichael.
The Cowgirls inked one of the top high school players in Oklahoma in Tulsa's Anna Beffer and also one of the top preps in Texas in Beryl Smith of The Woodlands. Both of the OSU signees are ranked among the top 150 recruits nationally in 2014.
"Both Anna and Beryl are very high-level players who play on exceptional club teams and have excelled at that level," Carmichael said. "We're very excited to be able to add these two players. The talent level is there for both kids to come in and make an impact. Their background of playing at such a high level and being recognized by the ECNL ID Program and the Olympic Development Program shows that a lot of other coaches around the region rate both of them as very good players."
The following is a breakdown of OSU's signees.
Anna Beffer, F, Tulsa, Okla. (Union HS/TSC Hurricane 95)
A three-year participant in ECNL/PDP Camp and a member of the Region III ODP team, Beffer starred for coach Kerry Shubert's TSC Hurricane '95 team for three years, helping that club make two national finals appearances. She led the team in assists each of her three seasons, while also ranking in the top three in goals every year. Currently a member of TSC Hurricane '96, Beffer ranks second nationally in the ECNL Under-18 Division with 14 goals in 15 games during the 2013-14 season.
Also a four-year starter at Union High School, Beffer is an all-conference and all-metro performer and served as team captain for two seasons.
Beffer is ranked No. 69 nationally on the TopDrawerSoccer.com Girls IMG Academy 150 and is considered the second-best recruit in the south region. She is also listed No. 19 nationally among forwards.
Carmichael on Beffer: "Anna is one of the most technically gifted players in the region, if not the country. She's very clean on the ball, great first touch, great technique, is able to play passes with either foot and able to bend balls with the inside and outside of both feet, which is not that common in women's soccer. She's a great goal scorer who finishes chances as well as creates chances for others. We expect Anna to come in and continue what she's doing in club, which is creating and scoring goals and helping us be very dangerous in the final third."
Beryl Smith, MF, The Woodlands, Texas (The Woodlands HS/Challenge 95)
Smith was a member of the Region III ODP team from 2009-12 and also attended ECNL ID2 National Training Camp in 2011. She starred for coach Pat O'Toole's Challenge '95 for eight years and helped lead that club to three state championships, and she now plays for Challenge '96.
Smith is ranked 123rd nationally on the TopDrawerSoccer.com Girls IMG Academy 150. She is considered the No. 12 recruit in Texas by the website and is also the 36th-ranked midfielder in the nation.
Carmichael on Smith: "Beryl is a central midfield player who has tons of energy. She's a smaller player but very tenacious, very aggressive. She reminds me a little bit of (current OSU senior) Miriam Rhinehart in that she's not the biggest or strongest player, but she plays with a huge heart. She's very good in possession in the midfield and keeping the ball for her team. Because of her tenacity and energy level, she has a chance to make an impact in our midfield."
